Disclaimer
Cedar Kids provides sleep education, not medical advice. If you are worried about your child's health, speak to your doctor. Nothing in our courses, guides, emails or calls replaces a medical consultation, and a medical cause should always be ruled out first.
The following safety lines appear word for word on every sales page and here. They are never paraphrased or shortened.
- Always place your baby on their back to sleep, for every sleep, the entire first year.
- Firm, flat sleep surface. No incline, even for reflux.
- Baby's own sleep surface. Nothing soft in the crib: no pillows, blankets, bumpers or positioners.
- Stop swaddling as soon as your baby shows any sign of rolling.
- Room-share, don't bed-share. Under six months, room-share day and night, on the baby's own surface.
- Keep the room cool, around 16 to 20C. Overheating is a safety risk.
- This is education, not medical advice. Check with your pediatrician and rule out medical causes first.
- Never shake a baby. If you're at your limit, put the baby down safely and step away.
Age-based guidance runs on corrected age for babies born early: run on corrected age, not birthday age. And the override that never moves: if your baby is hungry, your baby gets fed, at any hour.
